Amicus has recruited an ex-Commercial Acceptances manager as its new business development director.
Simon Chapman joins the lender with 15 years’ experience in the short-term lending market having previously worked for Commercial Acceptances and Investec.
Keith Aldridge, Managing Director at Amicus, said the firm’s growth during the last three years had justified his decision not to follow a business development manager model, but to attract specialists to its in-house resource.
Keith said: “We believe our USP is our people and our success to date.
“I believe we have in the region of a 10% share of the short-term lending market, which is due in no small part to the quality people we have been able to attract, and Simon is an excellent addition to the team.
“Through our broker surveys and stakeholder workshops we have refined our proposition and are now confident that we have a model that is ready to extend our distribution to the direct market in a far more focussed way than we have in the past.”
Amicus said the year ahead will see the firm consolidate its success over the past few years, and believes Simon’s appointment is essential to its growth plans.
Simon said: “The market is thriving and I am confident that the experience, trust and confidence my clients have had in me for the last 15 years will support the Amicus Group’s ambitions to remain one of the sectors premier lenders.
“We are working on plans with our monitoring surveyors, valuers and solicitors to strengthen the growing reputation of a sector that now has a great deal to offer to private property investors, particularly in the development arena.
“I am very excited to be joining such a forward thinking organisation.”
Last week, Amicus exclusively revealed to Bridging & Commercial that it plans to step up its commercial activity.
Towards the end of last year, the lender announced it was in the process of becoming a bank.
