The FP Show

FP Show to host broker academy taster sessions

The Finance Professional Show (FP Show) is set to host Connect Academy Labs — an exclusive series of Connect Academy taster sessions.

Brokers that attend the expo on 6th November at Olympia London can get a feel for the academy’s curriculum and will be able to sign up for the full course thereafter.

The three 45-minute sessions will be led by Liz Syms, owner of Connect for Intermediaries, and will be hosted in association with various lenders, who will drop in throughout the day, offering their expertise in various areas.

The Connect Academy teaches brokers how to become confident and competent advisers in the specialist mortgage industry.

Brokers that are new to the market need to learn a significant amount about the specialist lending industry to give adequate advice to customers, even those brokers with a residential mortgage qualification.

The Connect Academy, therefore, helps those with less experience to enter the market, educating them on specialist lenders’ criteria and offerings.

Its curriculum includes training on core compliance, specialist knowledge, researching the market, submitting business and generating leads.

A typical day on the week-long course runs from 9am–5.30pm, during which brokers will be trained in a range of topics, including property insurance, advertising and marketing.

Following the course, candidates will have access to the Connect team and will receive mentoring to help them to achieve competent adviser status in their chosen product areas.

The taster sessions are limited to 15-20 attendees each and are free of charge, requiring just a simple registration and booking on to a time slot at the expo on 6th November. Brokers are encouraged to indicate their interest early by emailing [email protected]

Dates of the course that follow the FP Show include the weeks commencing 11th November and 2nd December.
