Roger Bootle named as keynote speaker for ASTL conference

The Association of Short Term Lenders (ASTL) has revealed that economist Roger Bootle, chairman at Capital Economics (pictured above), will be the keynote speaker at its 2019 conference.

Roger — who was a specialist adviser to the House of Commons Treasury committee for 20 years — is an honorary fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.

Other speakers at the 2019 ASTL Conference — which will be held on Wednesday 20th November — include Rob Elder, the Bank of England’s agent for Greater London, Lucian Cook, director of residential research at Savills, and Lynda Blackwell, who was previously mortgage sector manager at the FCA.

“Knowledge is power, so in this environment it’s vital for businesses in the bridging industry to take every opportunity to build their own personal, professional and institutional knowledge,” said Benson Hersch, CEO at the ASTL.

“Roger Bootle is an excellent addition to our conference, which promises to deliver accurate and comprehensive competitive intelligence, latest industry insights, up-to-date analysis, forward-thinking ideas [and] fantastic networking opportunities.”

Roger added: “Nobody knows for certain what the future holds, but businesses can form a plan based on the information that is available to them.

“I’m looking forward to talking to delegates of the ASTL Conference about some indicators we are currently seeing and what they might mean.”
