In his new role, Shami will operate remotely in the London and South East region and work with brokers and intermediaries to provide flexible finance solutions to businesses.
He will also facilitate deals for existing clients in the region.
Shami joins from Metro Bank, where he served as a local director in London.
Before that, he held various roles at NatWest, including private banker and senior relationship director.
“While there is huge competition for commercial lending in the South, the appetite for capital is stronger than ever,” said Shami.

“There is a mass concentration of ambitious businesses in the region that require funding, many of whom have national and international growth potential.
“Assetz has seen its lending numbers increase dramatically since its inception, and I’m keen to ensure that this momentum continues.”
Damien Druce, director at Assetz Capital, added: “Having worked in the banking industry for over 35 years, Shami’s experience in dealing with both brokers and businesses makes him a perfect appointment to our team.
“As we approach the £700m lent to UK businesses milestone, we’re confident that Shami will help accelerate our deal activity in the South East and London patch.”
