Richard will move to the specialist lender, where he will serve as business development manager looking after a portfolio of brokers across the UK.
The appointment comes after Ortus reported a doubling of its loan book over the past six months, following the second closing of its fund, which has a lending capacity of £60m.
Ortus has also expanded its offering and recently announced that its maximum loan size had increased to £25m, while its minimum interest rate had fallen to 0.65% pcm.
Speaking of his appointment, Richard said he was delighted to have joined a lender that was growing fast and had some fantastic products.

Jon Salisbury, managing director of Ortus, added: “Richard is really well known in the industry and we are delighted to have him on board.
“He has a really positive attitude and loves getting deals done.”
Last week at the Bridging & Commercial Awards, Ortus was awarded Specialist Product of the Year for its Northern Ireland product range.
