Assetz Capital targets Welsh expansion with new director

P2P lender Assetz Capital has announced the appointment of a new regional relationship director to mark its expansion into south Wales.

Mark Standley (pictured above) was previously the branch manager at Handelsbanken in Bridgend and Cardiff.

This followed a 28-year spell at Barclays Bank, during which he served as business development director.

The news comes amid plans from Assetz Capital to double its number of regional relationship directors in 2017 for the second consecutive year.

Stuart Law, CEO of Assetz Capital, said: "This allows us to offer truly tailored assistance to any business, no matter where in the UK they operate.

“Mark’s experience and knowledge of the south Wales region will allow us to grow our presence in the area and will no doubt contribute to 2017 being our most successful year ever.”

Earlier this month, Assetz Capital provided £30m in funds for the development of renewable energy projects across the UK.

The platform lent over £108m to British SMEs in 2016.

Mark added: “With over 20 years’ experience in helping south Wales corporates to achieve their potential, I fully appreciate the difficulties they can face when looking to acquire funding, and I believe that Assetz Capital is the best placed alternative lender to help.

“I have been delighted with the commerciality that I have found within the business, a true ‘can-do’ culture, which empowers me to make a real difference for business across south Wales.”
