10 Questions with Scott Murphy, Director of Portal Tax Claims

 

He loves Wall Street but still misses his backpacking days....

1. How long have you been at Portal Tax?

I've been at Portal Tax since it first started.

2. What did you want to be when you were a Kid?

 My dad or Grandpa.

B&C: Awww how sweet. And I hear you still work for your father. You must have a close family.

Yes

3. If you could do anything you wanted this Sunday, what would it be? 

I would definitely fly to Perth and spend some time there.

B&C: Why Perth?

Perth was my first and last stop when I went backpacking when I was 22. I have lots of fond memories of good times in Perth.

4. Which football team do you support and why?

I support Tottenham. It was because of Gazza... then he broke his leg.

5. What is the best thing about your job?

It’s something that I genuinely like doing.

 B&C: And the worst thing?

The worst thing is getting up early when it’s cold and dark.

6. What would you be doing if you weren’t working at Portal Tax? 
 
I'd still be working in property.

B&C: I think you would make a good estate agent.

No!...I would be a property developer, which I something I have been doing since I was 19.

7.  What’s your favourite movie and why? 

Wall Steet, I went to see number 2, three times.

B&C: What did you think of the new one?

It was a good film, but the first one was much better.

8.  What do you expect to happen in the commercial finance industry over the next 12 months?

Well I think Capital Allowance could free up some cash for commercial investors.

9. What you put in room 101 if you had the chance?

Arsenal football club

10.  What’s your favourite book?

Any Jeremy Clarkson book.
