London’s largest home set to sell for record £100m

Thursday 4th February 2010

A property developer known for his grand-scale designs has won planning permission to convert seven office buildings in Regent’s Park into a 10 bedroom mansion.

The 50,000 square foot building, intended for a single owner, would become the capital’s largest residential property after Buckingham Palace.

Property developer Marcus Cooper bought the buildings for £23.7 million in 2007, but is looking to sell the mansion – which has been labelled a “super-prime, mega-mansion” – for £100 million.

If the property did sell for £100 million it would also hold the title of London’s most expensive home. The current record was set in February last year when an unnamed philanthropist paid £80 million for a detached house in Upper Phillimore Gardens, in Kensington.

The super-prime, mega-mansion will come complete with 10 bedroom suites and a 40ft rooftop garden overlooking Regent’s Park, as well as its own cinema, swimming pool and gym.
