Former director of failed buy to let group sells £25m mansion
Tuesday 15th December 2009According to reports from the Times newspaper, London’s biggest riverside private property has just gone on the market, with a staggering £25 million price tag.
Selling the 300 year old mansion is none other than James Taylor, the former business partner of prolific buy-to-let tycoon, Grant Bovey.
Grant Bovey, who achieved fame from his marriage to television presenter Anthea Turner, also gained notoriety earlier this year when his buy-to-let empire sank with debts of over £50 million.
Mr Taylor left the group in 2008, following disagreements with Mr Bovey over the business. His interest in property remained however, as he now heads up investment and management company, Private Property Group, which has been placed in charge of selling the Richmond-upon-Thames mansion.
Having reportedly bought the grade-II listed property in early 2007 as a development opportunity, he is now selling it for twice the £13 million it was valued at before the crash in the markets.
According to the property professional, the higher price is down to extensive renovations overseen by English Heritage over the past three years.
The property, called Gordon House, has a ballroom, clock tower, chapel and underground car park, as well as eight en suite bedrooms.
