10 questions with Neil Molyneux of Cheval Bridging Finance

He hates Jeremy Kyle, loves Labradors, and wants nothing more than to be a big kid again...

Miranda Atty speaks to Neil Molyneux, Business Development Manager at Cheval Bridging Finance...

1.  How long have you been at Cheval and what did you do previously?

I’ve been at Cheval for three months. Prior to that I worked for Sequence – a national estate agency chain where I ran a regulated sales team. Before that, I worked in secured lending with Swift and SPPL loans.

2.  What does your role at Cheval involve?

I have a dual role here at Cheval, because I do both business development and marketing.

3.  What did you want to be when you were a kid?

When I was a kid I wanted to be an adult, but now I’m an adult I want to be a kid again!

4.  If you could do anything you wanted this Sunday, what would it be?

I would like to sit round a very large table with all my friends and sort out all the problems of the world as well as a healthy amount of gossiping – there would be lots of food and drink as well obviously!

5.  Which football team do you support and why?

I don’t actually follow football, and anyone that knows me well would be laughing that you’ve even asked me that. However when I am going to meet certain people I will read up on football so that I don’t look foolish and can talk about it.

6.  What is the best and worst thing about your job?

The best thing about my job is the fact that it is so different to other jobs – because of my dual role, I can think of an idea, build, prepare and launch it. I can follow the process the whole way through which makes my role more interesting.

The worst thing about my job is definitely the M25.

7.  If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?

My labrador Marcus, he has the perfect life – he gets two long walks a day, two good meals, and he gets to sleep for ten hours a day!

8.  What’s your favourite movie and why?

I will watch anything, I like so many different films for different reasons. I do really like Midnight Express, because of the sheer rollercoaster of emotions – it’s a great film.

9.  What do you expect to happen in the bridging finance industry over the next 12 months?

I expect the market to continue to evolve with the entrance of new lenders. Lenders will have to be more innovative in the future, and will have to look at different areas of the market and products sold in specific areas. Actually, one of the areas I am looking at for Cheval is auctions. Cheval is launching a new auction proposition which will provide investors with exactly what they’re looking for, and will be able to place the product directly into the auction room.

10. What would you put in room 101 if you had the chance?

Most of the guests on Jeremy Kyle.
