Jason Fantini of West One Loans

An avid Chelsea fan, despite most of his colleagues being Gunners and Spurs fans, who would love to have X-ray vision and looks forward to a nice big roast on Sundays…

Jason McGee-Abe spoke to Jason Fantini, Business Development Manager for West One Loans….

1) How long have you been in the industry and how did you get to where you are now?

I've been in financial service for the last 12 years, I know I look too young but it's true! The last 4 and a half years I have been in the Bridging Finance sector.

2) What is the most significant difference you see between your first and most recent days in bridging?

The main difference now is that there are many more providers than there was 4 or 5 years ago. We have seen more lenders offer bridging finance and I think it is great that our sector is no longer seen as the lender of last choice!

3) Which sports team do you support, if any, and why?

I was born in South London and I have supported Chelsea ever since I was a kid, long before the Russian Millions came on board, before you ask! Everyone at West One supports Arsenal or Tottenham, so I’m obviously the only one that knows anything about football here!

4) If you could change one thing about the sector, what would it be?

I would love to change the reputation of our sector. I strongly believe that a lot of the negative press the industry receives is totally unfounded. We have totally changed people’s lives and been able to assist in our clients realising their expectations and adding to our introducers’ reputations.

5) If you could have one superpower, what would you choose and why?

X-ray vision seems the obvious choice, need you ask why? I’m sure if you asked Duncan here he would want me to have the ability to fly, so I could do twice as many meetings in a day!

6) What was the last film you saw and what did you think of it?

The last film I went to see was Captain America with my son! Totally predictable storyline and I loved it! Still a big kid at heart and I can’t wait to see the Avengers next year!

7) What would you put in room 101 if you had the chance?

Manchester United and Manchester City! Come on everyone is thinking it, give someone else a chance! Also the usual suspects of traffic wardens and the guy from the ‘Go Compare’ Adverts!!

8) What’s your favourite book?

Anything with pictures! I’m ashamed to say I can’t remember the last book I read! For the last few years the nearest I have got to a book is my son Thomas reading me his books every night, which gives me much more enjoyment than me reading myself!

9) What do you expect to happen in the bridging finance industry over the next 12 months?

I expect the industry to go from strength to strength. The High street won’t be opening its doors any time soon so our sector will be an essential resource for providing vital short term funding.

10) If you could do anything you wanted this Sunday, what would it be?

I’m a qualified football coach and I have coached my Sons U9’s football team for the last 4 years so most of my Sundays are taken up travelling to and from football match’s much to my wife’s disgust!  A perfect Sunday would be a lazy one doing as little as possible with the family, having a nice big roast and sitting in front of the telly watching the footy obviously!
