Florence Mosshart speaks to Ian Harrison, Operations Director at Affirmative Finance...

1. How long have you been at Affirmative Finance?

I’ve been with Affirmative Finance since the beginning, so seven years now.

2. What did you want to be when you were a kid?

I wanted to be the captain of Liverpool Football club.

3. If you could do anything you wanted this Sunday, what would it be?

I would do what I do every Sunday.

B&C: …and what’s that?

I manage two football teams, if I could do anything this Sunday it’d certainly be football coaching. My two sons aged 12 and 16, both play for the teams.

4. Which football team do you support? …Liverpool?

That’s correct! - Liverpool

5. What is the best and worst thing about your job?

No two days are the same, and one of the best things about my job has to be meeting new people. However, although it seems very glamorous – with frequent travelling and many social events, some people do not realise how lonely it can be.

Spending time alone in hotels away from the family is probably the worst thing about my job.

6. What would you be doing if you weren’t working in the industry?

Probably something sport related – perhaps full-time coaching!

7. What’s your favourite movie and why?

Quadrophenia, or The Hangover which I think is one of the funniest most recent films.

8. What do you expect to happen in the bridging finance industry over the next 12 months?

I expect the industry to expand with many more lenders entering the market, and plenty of new business opportunity arising. I think the FSA will continue to implement new measures to make the industry fairer.

9. What would you put in room 101 if you had the chance?

Everton and Manchester United Football Clubs

10. What’s your favourite book?

Anything by Terry Pratchett!
