Edward Goldsmith

A Liverpool fan who wishes he could have x-ray vision…

Jason McGee-Abe spoke to Edward Goldsmith of Goldsmith Williams Solicitors

1. How long have you been in the industry and how did you get to where you are now?

I have been a residential conveyancer for 25 + years – from my father’s firm and then starting Goldsmith Williams with Chris Williams in 1984- so been round the block, bought the tee- shirt and now manufacturing it!

2. What did you want to be when you were younger?

Very young it was Rick Nelson’s assistant (he was a deep sea diver early television) later the world’s greatest acoustic guitarist (very modest ambition...)

3. What is the most significant difference you have seen in terms of bridging over the years up to now?

Bridging moving from the back street to becoming a main stream lending facility – and that’s good necessary and overdue

4. Which sports team do you support, if any, and why?

The mighty Reds – I’m from and live in Liverpool!

5. If you could change one thing about the sector, what would it be?

Getting lenders brokers clients and their lawyers talking to each other more!

6. If you could have one superpower, what would you choose and why?

X ray vision but I’m not going to tell you why!

7. What was the last film you saw and what did you think of it?

A Beautiful Life – very moving and makes you appreciate your everyday humdrum existence

8. What would you put in room 101 if you had the chance?

Automated voice answering

9. What do you expect to happen in the bridging finance industry over the next 12 months?

More lenders coming in and greater visibility which will lead to greater competition and that’s good for everyone

10. If you could do anything you wanted this Sunday, what would it be?

Watch Liverpool beat QPR again!
