LendInvest appoints new VP of compliance

Online property investment business LendInvest has announced the appointment of Willem Wellinghoff as VP of compliance.

Having previously worked at Cabot Credit Management for 10 years – initially as legal counsel, then head of legal and regulatory affairs – Willem has extensive experience in compliance.

In his new role, Willem will lead compliance and risk management strategy, as well as serving on LendInvest’s Governance Committee for Compliance and Risk.

For the last four years, Willem has served as a special adviser to the board of the Credit Services Association, the trade body for debt recovery agencies.

Willem is also a regulatory mentor to fintech start-ups in the Barclays Accelerator programme and for commuter savings platform CommuterClub.

Willem said: “The emerging fintech industry is subject to ever-growing layers of regulation.

“I’m excited to take my experience of advising in this sector to a role within a team where compliance and ethics [are] core to its culture.”

Christian Faes, co-founder and CEO of LendInvest, commented: “At LendInvest we are very serious about lending responsibly and meeting our obligations to investors as we build our financial services franchise.

“Willem has an impeccable compliance pedigree and is the perfect person to fill this crucial role.”

LendInvest recently reported a 133% growth in revenue and appointed its first VP of HR.
