Aldermore Bank has announced the appointment of the former Chief Executive of Coutts Group as its Chairman.

Rapidly growing challenger bank, Aldermore, has announced the appointment of Glyn Jones as its brand new chairman.

Glyn brings a deep knowledge and experience of the skills necessary for a Non-Executive Chairman, having previously held the role at Towry Holdings, Hermes Fund Managers and BT Pension Scheme Management.

He is currently Chairman of Aspen Insurance Holdings, a New York listed specialty lines insurance and re-insurance business, and Aspen Insurance UK, a subsidiary of the Aspen Group.

He is also the Senior Independent Director of Direct Line Insurance.

A graduate of Cambridge University, Glyn is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales. He is currently a mentor on FTSE 100 Cross Company mentoring programme to help more women reach the top of large organisations.

Commenting on the news, Phillip Monks, Chief Executive of Aldermore Bank said:  “I am delighted that we have been able to attract a Chairman of Glyn's calibre and experience. As we continue on our path of successful growth it is an exciting time for Glyn to be joining us and I am very much looking forward to working with him.”

Also commenting, Glyn Jones, Aldermore Bank’s new Chairman, said: “This is an extremely exciting time for Aldermore, which has grown considerably since it was launched almost five years ago and is now a well-established brand among UK banks. I feel privileged to have been appointed as chairman and am excited to be part of the next stage of Aldermore’s development in supporting British homeowners and SMEs.”

Off the back of announcing a huge £333 million securitisation deal, this week marks a significant step in Aldermore’s progression to securing its role as the UK’s leading challenger bank.
