Metro Bank has appointed its first Senior Relationship Manager for Large Loans in response to “overwhelming demand” for mortgages over £1.5m.

The role has been created due to a surge in demand from customers and an improving housing market.

Jo Hollins will take on the new role having previously worked as a consultant for John Charcol, before spending three years in the private banking unit at Metro Bank.

Charles Morley, Head of Mortgage Distribution at Metro Bank, said: “This is a real milestone for the business and we’re delighted that Jo will be at the helm of this business area.”

“She brings with her exceptional experience, which will prove invaluable as we continue with our ambitious growth plans.”

Jo will be responsible for high value mortgages and will manage the business growth strategy, as well help with specialist broker partnerships.

“I am delighted to be joining the Mortgage Distribution team within Metro Bank, and look forward to making a positive contribution to a specific sector that has seen considerable growth in recent years,” Jo said.

The introduction of the new role follows the appointment of three new Business Development Managers and an overhaul of the intermediary website.

Metro Bank opened its 500,000th account in April this year and Charles said he expected the growth to continue.

“Over the last year we’ve doubled our lending and we’re on track to become one of the top 10 lenders in the UK within the next few years,” he added.
